Direct DV Editing System
DPS, setting professional broadcast standards since 1975,
has teamed up with Adaptec, the leading supplier of
computer I/O peripherals, to produce DPS Spark, a
broadcast quality DV editing system. Spark is designed
exclusively for use with DV camcorders and VCRs, the
forerunners of a new generation of video and audio systems
that bridge the gap between professional and consumer
electronic products. The key to Spark is the FireWire
(IEEE-1394) interface, a high-speed serial bus designed to
connect digital peripherals such as camcorders, VCRs,
scanners, printers and computers together.
With DPS Spark, all you need to edit DV is a properly
equipped computer and a DV camcorder. Digital audio and
video can be transferred from your camcorder to your hard
drive in real time, using the supplied FireWire cable. Once
captured, it's easy to edit your DV footage and insert special
effects using the Adobe Premiere software that we provide.
The final step is to transfer the fully edited program from your
computer to a blank tape in your DV camcorder using the
same bi-directional FireWire link. There is no generation loss,
because the signal remains digital from start to finish.
